Chapter Visits: Henrico & Arlington Chapters

Attended the Xi Delta Lambda (Henrico) and Theta Rho Lambda (Arlington) Chapter meetings on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9 with Presidental Candidate Alphonso Taylor. Great questions and feedback to the campaign.

Visit to Beta Gamma Lambda

This evening I attend Beta Gamma Lambda Chapter meeting.... the brothers were very gracious and welcomed me to their meeting with kind words of praise and encouragement.  The brothers from Theta Rho and Upsilon Gamma were also in attendance.

Overall, I think my presentation was solid, but still room for improvement.  I was able to articulate my theme and vision for position of 1st VP

The brothers allowed me to talk for 10 minutes.   I was asked several questions.
  1. VACAPAF Finances, and why we pay dues and we don’t really see any return in our investment
  2. My vision on the District and how I would incorporate my vision with the District Director vision for the state
  3. I was asked if I envisioned having someone run against me for the position of 1st VP
  4. Biggest Issue facing VACAPAF
  5. Reclamation and Retention
  6. Membership Intake
  7. Role of an Advisor
I kept my responses short and concise, but I always linked them back to my overall theme, some of my responses were comical and was intended to lighten the mood,
I demonstrated that I was listening to the issued they addressed in their chapter meeting... I was able to link some of their chapter initiatives back to the issues of reclamation and retention and talked about ways college brothers can raise funds to do national programs, etc.

After the meeting... a few brothers told me that I did good job... brother foster and Burrell, gave me some encouraging words

VACAPAF Staff Meeting: Sept. 18

Today, I will be attending our district's meeting to announce my candidancy. Our campaign committee sent postcards to all brothers who attended VACAPAF Convention the last two years and served as a delegate. The brothers will get the opportunity for me to discuss my platform regarding moving all chapters forward. My main themes of dedication, organization, committment, and accountability will be shared. Let me know your thoughts.

Welcome Message

Brothers of VACAPAF

Between now and the District elections in February 2011,  many brothers running for district wide office will be asking you and your chapter for your vote. Most of the time their request for your support will be based on nothing more than a handshake, a smile and a pat on the back. While this approach is traditional in politics, I believe our brotherhood faces too many challenges for Delegates to base their vote on nothing more than a friendly request. Serious times demand that brothers make serious decisions about which candidate is best qualified to lead our District, and I intend to provide you with the information necessary to make a wise decision.
